Reef aquarium care
- Difficulty: moderate.
- Lighting: low to moderate; around 60–150 PAR as a cautious starting point, acclimating slowly to stronger light.
- Flow: gentle to moderate and indirect; prevent debris settling without blasting the thin tissue.
- Placement: secure in the lower to middle reef with room for outward growth.
- Spacing: allow at least roughly 10–15 cm from neighbours and watch for sweeper tentacles.
- Feeding: occasionally offer fine or very small meaty coral food when feeding polyps respond.
Water parameters and acclimation
Aim for approximately 24–26 °C and salinity of about 34–35 PSU. Test alkalinity, calcium and magnesium regularly and keep them stable. Acclimate new corals gradually to light and flow, keep nutrients within the range that works for your reef and avoid abrupt changes.
These are starting points, not exact targets for every specimen. Watch tissue and polyp response after introduction and adjust placement only gradually.
