Reef aquarium care

• Difficulty: moderate.
• Lighting: low to moderate; start cautiously around 50–120 PAR and watch the coral's response.
• Flow: gentle and indirect; the inflated tissue should not be compressed or covered with sand.
• Placement: openly on the sand bed or a smooth, secure surface low in the reef; keep sharp rock edges away from the tissue.
• Spacing: allow room for full expansion and initially leave around 15–20 cm from neighbouring corals.
• Feeding: occasionally offer small meaty pieces to an open polyp; remove leftovers and avoid overfeeding.

Water parameters and acclimation

Aim for approximately 24–26 °C and salinity of about 34–35 PSU. Test alkalinity, calcium and magnesium regularly and keep them stable. Acclimate new corals gradually to light and flow, keep nutrients within the range that works for your reef and avoid abrupt changes.

These are starting points, not exact targets for every specimen. Watch tissue and polyp response after introduction and adjust placement only gradually.
