Origin: Aquarium-grown aquaculture

Care in the reef aquarium

  • Lighting: low to moderate; around 80–120 PAR has worked well in our own tanks, with gradual acclimation for new specimens
  • Water flow: gentle to moderate, variable and indirect; tentacles should sway freely without being forced against the skeleton
  • Feeding: largely supported by light; occasionally offer very small suitable food particles when feeding tentacles respond
  • Water chemistry: 24–26 °C, 34–35 PSU, alkalinity 7–8.5 °dKH, calcium 410–450 mg/l, magnesium 1,250–1,400 mg/l.

Placement and spacing

secure in the lower to middle reef with generous space from neighbouring corals and other Euphyllia types.

Acclimation and care tips

Long sweeper tentacles can damage neighbouring corals. Secure the skeleton without gluing soft tissue. Investigate persistently retracted polyps or tissue loss promptly.

Acclimate slowly to the aquarium conditions and lighting. Maintain stable alkalinity, salinity and measurable nutrients. The water values are guideline ranges; avoid abrupt corrections and observe the animal’s response.
