Lobophyllia Rainbow – fleshy Lobophyllia LPS whose expanded tissue needs more room than its skeleton.
You receive the exact specimen shown in the original photographs. Specimen 599. The photographs were taken under blue aquarium lighting; colours can look different under your own lighting.
Size stated in the offer: 6 x 6 cm.
Light: low to moderate; around 50–100 PAR as a cautious starting point, acclimating gradually. Flow: gentle and broadly distributed so the tissue can expand without rubbing on the skeleton.
On clean sand or a smooth, secure support low in the reef, allowing room to inflate and clearance from neighbours.
Offer small thawed marine foods to visible feeding tentacles; avoid large pieces and uneaten food.
Support the skeleton when moving it. Keep rocks away from inflated tissue and allow a calm, stable position after transport.
Start with small target feedings once or twice weekly if the coral accepts food; reduce feeding if nutrients rise.
As a general reef starting point: 24–26 °C, salinity 34–35 PSU, alkalinity 7–8.5 dKH, calcium 410–450 mg/l and magnesium 1,250–1,400 mg/l. Stability matters more than abruptly chasing a number. For this mixed-reef starting range, aim roughly for nitrate 5–15 mg/l and phosphate 0.03–0.10 mg/l, without sudden corrections. Check trends rather than reacting to a single reading.
For a consistent testing routine, see our reef water testing guide.
