Description
The Salifert Nitrite test measures nitrite (NO2) in a saltwater aquarium. Nitrite is an intermediate in the biological conversion of ammonia and ammonium to nitrate. The test helps you monitor this stage during cycling or after changes to biological filtration.
Using and interpreting the test
Compare the developed colour with the chart after the waiting time specified in your instructions. Record the date and reading. A single low nitrite result is not enough to declare a new tank ready for livestock: also check ammonia/ammonium and follow the trend. NO2 and NO3 are different measurements; this kit does not replace a nitrate test.
Use the enclosed instructions for your test version. Reagents are for water testing only; do not return the tested sample to the aquarium, and keep the kit out of children's reach.
