Description
Stylocoeniella Crack of Dawn / 030 – encrusting small-polyp stony coral.
Reef aquarium care
- Difficulty: easy to moderate.
- Lighting: low to moderate; around 50–100 PAR as a cautious starting range, adjusted to the coral's response.
- Flow: moderate and varied; prevent debris settling on the small polyps without a constant direct pump jet.
- Placement: secure the frag plug on the reef structure and leave room for encrusting growth.
- Spacing: leave several centimetres from neighbours and monitor its expanding edge.
- Feeding: relies mainly on light; fine coral food may be offered sparingly.
Water parameters and acclimation
Aim for approximately 24–26 °C and salinity of about 34–35 PSU. Test alkalinity, calcium and magnesium regularly and keep them stable. Acclimate new corals gradually to light and flow, keep nutrients within the range that works for your reef and avoid abrupt changes.
These are starting points, not exact targets for every specimen. Watch tissue and polyp response after introduction and adjust placement only gradually.
